The Hyundai Motor Group (HMG) is supporting the City of Busan’s bid to host the 2030 World Expo. HMG is actively contributing to this campaign by showcasing the Hyundai Ioniq 5, Ioniq 6, and other cars in key landmarks around New York City.

These aren’t just your plain stock cars though, as a total of 20 vehicles were decorated with colorful graffiti artwork made by the renowned Korean artist Jay Flow. The graffiti artwork has turned the Ioniq 5 and Ioniq 6, as well as other Hyundai and Genesis models into art pieces depicting Busan City’s icons and featuring the “Busan is Ready” slogan.

HMG rolled out the art cars in conjunction with the ongoing United Nations General Assembly High-Level week which will go on until September 22. The art car exhibitions are found at Times Square, the Meatpacking District in Manhattan, and the Genesis House in New York City, to name a few.

Beyond the static displays, the art cars will also go on a road tour through New York City. This will allow the public and the visiting world leaders to see and appreciate Hyundai’s rides, Jay Flow’s art, as well as Busan’s culture. It is hoped that these will signify that the South Korean city is ready to host the 2030 edition of the World Expo.

Of note, Hyundai’s support in Busan’s bid to host the 2030 World Expo is an ongoing campaign. Previously, the brand’s electric-powered rides went to the 2030 World Economic Forum in Switzerland. The art cars themselves made their debut at the ASEAN Summit in Indonesia several weeks ago, and they likewise made previous appearances at various G20-related events.

Even without the colorful graffiti though, the Ioniq 5 and Ioniq 6 are already noted to be attractively styled vehicles. The newer Ioniq 6 for instance, already came on top at the 2023 World Car Awards, where it won the World Car Design of the Year award, the World Vehicle of the Year Award, as well as the overall World Car of the Year accolade.
