Grey Suzuki Ertiga

This 7 seater vehicle has built a strong fan base here in the Philippines due to its versatility and practicality.

If you are looking for a budget-friendly MPV that falls below the one million peso price mark you might want to check out the latest models of the Suzuki Ertiga. This is currently considered as one of the most popular choices amongst Filipino drivers in the MPV segment for the past five years. Ertiga was inspired by the Swift model. The Ertiga became Suzuki's top-selling car last 2017 contributing one-third of the company's overall car sales.

This 7 seater vehicle has built a strong fan base due to its versatility and practicality. A lot of Filipino families and medium scale business owners would highly recommend the Ertiga as the perfect vehicle for everyday use. Owning one of this MPVs gives it's potential buyers a guarantee that the Ertiga won't create a big hole in their pockets since one unit will only cost them anywhere between ₱699,000 - ₱965,000 with 4 variants and 6 colors to choose from.

What we have here in the Philippines is still the 1st gen of the Ertiga, the 2nd gen has been recently introduced in Indonesia. Hopefully, by 2019 we would get to see the latest offering of this much talked about MPV.

It was mentioned earlier that the Ertiga was inspired by the platform of the Suzuki Swift mini car which makes this MPV a bigger version of the latter.  In terms of style and design, the Ertiga clearly falls behind its competitors in this department. Its exteriors are simply designed with its large chrome plated front grille which is the trademark of Suzuki. This is also flanked with a pair of adjustable headlights that are quite similar to the Swift. It also comes with a set of 15-inch steel rimmed wheels which is the standard issue for all variants.

1st gen Ertiga model

Owning one unit of this MPV will only cost you anywhere between ₱699,000 - ₱965,000.

The Ertiga is created to provide a bigger space for its passengers to experience a more comfortable ride. The 1st and 2nd rows provide sufficient legroom, however, the 3rd row may be a little more cramped for taller passengers. But in case there's a need for additional trunk space the rear seats can be easily folded to accommodate extra luggage. The interiors are made with fine quality beige hard plastic materials that compliment its beige colored fabric seats. It may not be the best looking interior but it definitely has the characteristics that make the Ertiga look more spacious. With the exception of the base model, the 3 variants come with a Touchscreen Infotainment and Navigation system and additional 4 speakers for better sound quality. Meanwhile, the top of the line GLX variant comes with Android Auto and Audio Control buttons that are integrated into its steering wheels.

In terms of engine specs, the Ertiga is powered by a K14B 1.4L DOHC 16-valve with variable valve timing. It produces a maximum power of 95 Hp @ 6000 rpm and a maximum torque of 130 Nm @ 4000 rpm.

The Ertiga is available in both 5-speed M/T for its base variants and 4-speed A/T for its higher variants. In terms of fuel consumption, the Ertiga is considered as one of the most economical MPV which can produce an average gasoline consumption of 11 kilometers per liter making it more appealing to the Filipinos.

This MPV doesn't really have much to offer in terms of safety and security features. With its very affordable pricing, we should not really expect a lot of security features to be included in this vehicle. Right now, the Ertiga has the basic safety features that consist of the standard crossbody and lap seat belts, 2 SRS airbags that are intended for the driver and its front passenger and ISOFIX. Meanwhile, the Auto Brake System with EBD feature is only available in the GLX variant.
