Expressway in the Philippines: New toll fees will be charged!

Prepare for a long road trip to any province near or far from Metro Manila? Will it be the Northern or Southern ends of Luzon’s major expressways to pass through. If that’s; then it will be important to know the increased expressway toll fees that will be charged for passing through them.

Avid roar trippers have two major routes like the Southern Luzon Expressway (SCTEX) and the Northern Luzon Expressway (NLEX) as major thoroughfares for many years already. Motorists can accurately plan all expenses with the increased charges to know how much to add for all tolls. Please take note that most of the toll fees features are applied for private cars only!

1. Toll fee NLEX: Northern Luzon Expressway

Most vacationers would be familiar with Pampanga, Subic, and popular summer destinations that is accessed faster through NLEX. A major expressway in the Philippines that has an entry at Mindanao Avenue extension to several exits that include Bulacan, and will terminate at Angeles City in Pampanga and Santa Ines.

It allows access to the Subic-Clark-Tarlac Expressway (SCTEX) to make it easier going to Subic and further towards the northern provinces from Metro Manila.

The NLEX toll rates are applied for the route from at the Mindanao Avenue extension to Santa Ines. Drivers are charged from 45 to 236 Php, just don’t forget to get the card or receipt or be charged more.

2. SCTEX toll fee: Subic-Tarlac-Expressway

For many Subic is the most visited places for vacation; especially for those in metro manila because of NLEX and SCTEX which makes it very accessible. Both the NLEX and SCTEX is one of the portals to go to Zambales and farther onwards for vacations and other summer activities.

Rates for the SCTEX toll rates is from 45 to 340 Php from Mindanao Extension to Tarlac. Although if the car starts from Tipo/SFEX exit to Tarlac with the SCTEX toll fee of 25 to 297 Php.

3. TPLEX toll fee: Tarlac-Pangasinan-La Union Expressway

If your destination is Baguio City and needs to find the fastest way to get there, then it’s the best option for everyone. It starts at Tarlac, Pangasinan, and until the La Union Expressway. A much shorter route when compared to the older way there. Using this route will take away about 40-minutes of travelling time to Baguio City. There are new tollgates that were opened like Pozorrubio in 2017 and another one in 2018 at Sison. Which by this writing may already be open for incoming traffic.

The TPLEX exits and entry from La Paz to Pozorrubio for a total distance of 88.85-kilometers in total. The TPLEX toll fee as charged will be from Victoria to Pozorrubio and will be from 30 to 270 Php for using the route.

4. Toll fee SLEX: Southern Luzon Expressway

This expressway in the Philippines is the only way to access the south of metro manila and still is the major way used by most natives of both north and south ends in the metro. Most drivers will know the SLEX exits that lead to Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal and Quezon that is accessed and lies along the Skyway and the South Luzon Tollway.

The SLEX toll rate is charged from entry at Merville to Calamba Laguna which lies at the end of SLEX. For everyone’s information; the cost of toll fee SLEX from the exit and entry at Merville or Magallanes to Calamba is 49 to 214 Php. For those who want to get to Batangas via Southwoods or Carmona will have a SLEX toll rate of 152 or 158 Php from the Merville or the Magallanes entry.

5. Skyway toll fee: Elevated road along SLEX

The Skyway is a section of the SLEX which is elevated with several exits and entry along SLEX. Features faster travel when there’s no traffic and used for getting to Manila faster. It begins at Makati and stops at Filinvest City, Alabang for faster traveling. Motorists pay the Skyway toll fee of 72 to 168 Php when using it.

6. MCX toll fee: Muntinlupa-Cavite Expressway

Drivers can pass several alternatives to exit into alternate routes to get to Cavite. The MCX exit will start from Daang Reyna and Daang Hari until it reaches Las Pinas/Bacoor in Cavite. Cars will enter and exit through Susana Interchange via Muntinlupa on both north and southbound on the SLEX. It also leads to Tagaytay proper as another route to Batangas. Toll fees will cost 17 to 97 Php from Susana Interchange to Calamba.

7. NAIAX toll fee: Ninoy Aquino International Airport Expressway

Fetching and taking passengers via the NAIAX that is a short stretch from Metro Manila. It links NAIA airport to Metro Manila and PAGCOR's Entertainment City which is elevated access that is 11.6 km. Cost of the toll varies for the short segment is 35 Php cars, 69 Php light trucks, and 104 Php for heavy trucks.

8. Cavitex toll fee: Manila-Cavite Expressway

Cavitenos use this expressway that is also called Coastal Road that is linked to Paranaque as an everyday thoroughfare going to Manila. The Cavitex toll fee will cost about 24 to 64 Php (for cars) when passing through. This stretch will cover the entry at R-1 Expressway, Kabihasnan, to R-1 Expressway extension for the relatively short distance traveled.

9. STAR toll rates: Southern Tagalog Arterial Road

During summer this is one busy expressway with those on road trips passing the Maharlika Highway until Santo Tomas SLEX tollgate in Batangas. It cuts the travel time between Manila and Batangas by two hours less! This expressway will be 42-kilometers and the STAR toll rates are 11 to 95 Php for cars only.

10. Manila to Baguio toll fee (NLEX-TPLEX)

It takes less time to travel from Manila to Baguio with the improvements in expressways. Faster travel time through the NLEX and TPLEX is possible with changes in the toll fee from Manila to Baguio that will cost more.

The toll fee from Mindanao Extension to Tarlac will be 340 Php, Victoria to Pozorrubio is 270 Php. With a grand total of 610 Php for a one-way trip to Baguio and for the return to Manila (Toll rates are applied for car only!)
