Top 5 of the coolest police cars from Japanese brand that will blow you away

Updated Mar 30, 2021 | Same topic: Highlights of the Week

Just because you complement the law, it doesn't mean you can't be cool. Take a peek at the coolest Police cars ever!

Japanese brands dominate the local market and our car culture itself try its best to emulate and revere Japanese car culture. JDM themed car builds are everywhere further solidifying and proving our love for these cars.

The Philippines have complemented law against speeding. Currently, the speed limit is strictly being enforced by our proud Philippine National Police Highway Patrol Group and being assisted by the men and women of the Metro Manila Development Authority.

Imagine speeding down the highway in your brand-new sedan, with the intent of breaking it in. It can be very tempting to break that speed limit and feel the need for speed.

You’d better think twice as the next thing you’d be seeing on your rear-view mirror would be Manila’s finest flashing their lights right on your tail, or worse yet you might wake upright in the hospital… if ever you wake up at all!

The local police force’s fleet in our country can be your run-of-the-mill sub-compact sedans like the Vios or MPVs such as the Innova, and you might not give them that much respect for it, much fewer criminals out there with their powerful cars or motorcycles can outrun them or simply give them no respect at all.

Would you still be willing to be part of our local police force if they told you all you will be driving is their fleet special sub-compact?

Circling back to my earlier point about Japanese cars, what if I told you that the Japanese police force has in their fleet probably the most iconic cars ever to be released. Cars that can not only sow fear into the hearts of ne’er do wells, but can also have the horsepower to catch even the fastest cars out there.

Philkotse.com will bring a few examples Midnight Racer fans might want to watch out for.

1. Nissan GT-R R35

The Nissan GT-R R35 is Nissan’s most powerful Supercar out of Nissan’s lineup. Powered by a 3.8-liter twin-turbocharged VR38DETT V6 the Nismo build creates a brain-melting 591hp and 652 Nm of torque.

You can reach 100kph from a standstill in just 2.5 seconds. Criminals beware as the GT-R itself is one of the fastest machines on the road and won’t be above giving chase to anyone dumb enough to test it.

2. Honda NSX

Straight out of the 90s the Honda NSX was the peak of Honda engineering. In the heart of this mid-engined, 2-seat sports car lies a 3.2-liter V6 engine with Variable Valve Timing and Electronic Lift Control, better known as VTEC giving it 300hp and 300Nm of torque.

Its primary objective is to patrol Japanese Highways on alert for speeding motorists in the interest of public security and for showcasing the police fleet. It helps to be a policeman that you can look good at your job and basically catch any car out on the road.

3. Mazda RX-8

Criminals aren’t just found in the speeding on the highways. For inner-city streets, the Japanese Metropolitan Police have in their fleet the nimble yet powerful - the on sale Mazda RX-8. Don’t mistake it’s naturally aspirated 1.3 Liter engine to be anything but ordinary.

In its heart beats a RENESIS 2-rotor Wankel engine which produces a healthy 232hp and 216Nm of torque at a screaming 9000 rpm. Its natural habitat is within Japan’s tight city streets, stalking its prey, on the alert and ready to zoom.

4. Nissan Skyline GT-R R34

As if you don’t have enough to worry about with the cars above behind your tail, you also have to deal with the ultimate Nissan Skyline GT-R. Nicknamed Godzilla, it’s powered by the now legendary 2.8 Liter inline 6 RB28DETT.

Supposedly making only 276 hp, no thanks to a hand-shake gentleman’s agreement in the 90s, this police cruiser is said to have real power figures up to 500hp and can reach a top speed of 327 km/h!

5. Nissan 350Z

Nissan seems to play a huge role in arming the Japanese police force with just the best cars to keep the streets safe. The Nissan 350Z for sale is one of the most popular platforms for use in motorsports and tuners alike, even illegal street-racers love it for its affordability and dynamic adaptability.

Using this track weapon for police use makes perfect sense. The force uses the ultimate Nismo version which creates 400hp and 421 NM of torque all from the 3.8-liter naturally aspirated V6 engine. Nothing but the best for the police I guess.

It’s amazing how some of these JDM legends can be seen in police livery. Seeing them draped in the iconic black and white just adds to their car tuning appeal so don’t be surprised if during your next car meet, you see any car there dressed as such.

If ever you are caught in any one of these vehicles though, you are straight out of luck as rear seating isn’t that much of a priority for these cars. Most of these vehicles are used primarily for showcasing the police fleet and aren’t in regular circulation but that doesn’t mean you can test the capabilities of the Japanese Police force.

These are merely 5 of the most popular cars in use by their Japanese Police Force. Would you be interested in signing up knowing you have the chance to drive any of these vehicles? Keep posted here for the latest automotive news.
