Next Ford Ranger Raptor to get turbo-gasoline V6 in the U.S but that’s okay

The Ranger Raptor will enter the U.S. market for the first time.

Back in May, we learned that Ford will most likely offer the next-gen Ranger and Everest with a 3.0-liter turbocharged diesel engine, the same power unit found in the F-150.

It seems that our report points in the right direction as new details emerged from Australia’s CarExpert stating the new engine options for the U.S.-bound Ford Ranger Raptor.

The Ranger Raptor will enter the U.S. market for the first time, according to the publication. It will be offered in the U.S. with a 2.7-liter turbocharged V6 EcoBoost gasoline engine that delivers 325 hp and 542 Nm of torque.

The engine is connected to a 10-speed automatic transmission. On the other hand, the upcoming Ford Bronco, which is set to debut on July 13, is said to be equipped with the same 2.7-liter turbo-gasoline V6 engine.

So, why do we care about the said information, right? It's a gasoline engine, and we all know that most Filipinos are suckers for diesel power units especially if we’re talking about a pickup truck or a seven-seater SUV.

Hold your horses, and keep in mind that there’s a 3.0-liter turbo-diesel engine in the table, which is said to be offered in the Asian market.

While the U.S. will get the turbocharged V6 gasoline, the next-gen Ranger Raptor for the Australian and Asian markets will be offered with a 3.0-liter turbocharged V6 diesel engine that generates 255 hp and 600 Nm of torque, and is mated to a 10-speed automatic transmission.

The said engine and transmission layout is similar to the one fitted in the Ford F-150.

The next-gen Ranger Raptor is also said to feature a permanent all-wheel drive, similar to the Volkswagen Amarok. Well, this makes sense since Ford and Volkswagen decided to team up to develop a new medium-size pickup truck.

Moreover, the Ranger Raptor for Australia and Asia will be offered with the truck’s current 2.0-liter turbo diesel that can churn out 210 hp and 500 Nm of torque. It also comes with a 10-speed automatic transmission.

Upon the launch of the new Ford Ranger Raptor, we expect that it will come with a new look along with the latest generation Fox Racing shock absorbers, and updated tech.

On the tech side, it could be integrated with Ford’s over-the-air (OTA) software, a feature that was first introduced in the 2021 F-150. OTA is a software that allows a Ford vehicle to get online software updates to further improve the vehicle’s performance.

It can support preventative maintenance, reduce repair trips, and provide improved performance to the vehicle.
