Mazda CX-5 shows a clear change in its exterior and interior design language

Mazda CX-5 is considered as the latest model of the growing compact crossover SUV. Although the manufacturer claimed that Mazda CX-5 was fully upgraded compared to its predecessor, it seems apparent that Mazda CX-5 still bears many similarities to the 2013 model.

Considered as one of the latest updated versions, Mazda CX-5 shows a clear change in its exterior and interior design language.

The new Mazda CX-5 presents the embodiment of Mazda’s Kodo design theme including a striking grille up front. The lower portion of the new maw is circled by chrome detailing that blends with the lower portion of the headlights.

A thick chrome piece below the car’s window line and the A-pillars pushed slightly farther rearward are some Mazda CX-5’s minimal changes. Except for attractive appearance, the rest of Mazda CX-5 is pretty normal. The front fender lines under the doors seem similar to Mazda CX-3’s lines.

Mazda CX 5’s exterior dimensions remain almost unchanged. Its wheelbase length is 106.3-inch. Mazda reported an increase of 0.4 inch in Mazda CX-5’s overall length and 0.1 inch in its overall width.  Mazda also announced that the position of the vehicle’s center of gravity had been lowered, which is good news for those who enjoy driving a long journey.

Forthcoming models will be produced with a new-to-our-shores 2.2-liter four-cylinder turbo-diesel engine

Two types of engine are on offer. Present-day models are set with a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine, which produces an output of 184 horsepower and 185 lb-ft of torque. Forthcoming models will be produced with a new-to-our-shores 2.2-liter four-cylinder turbo-diesel engine that comes to market in late 2017.

The forthcoming models will be paired with a six-speed automatic transmission and Mazda’s trick G-Vectoring Control.  There is a rumor that the 2.0-liter engine from the last CX-5 will no longer on the market, the six-speed manual transmission is still available.

Mazda CX-5 2017 Philippines: Conclusion

Improvement for the new Mazda CX-5 might not really be persuasive, it's not a complete disappointment, though. With its smooth driving, attractive appearance, elegant interior, changes to the latest model's technology and looks should still be applauded.
