The small car specialist’s hybrid MPV has four different trims to choose from.

The 2023 Suzuki Ertiga Hybrid is a seven-seater MPV that promises optimum fuel efficiency, paired with a spacious, three-row interior.

That said, many are undoubtedly eyeing this Suzuki model as their next new ride. The Ertiga Hybrid, however, has four different trims for the Philippine market. There’s the entry-level GA MT, the midspec GL MT and AT, and the top-spec GLX AT.

So which of these Suzuki Ertiga variants is the right one for you? Let us help you find out by highlighting their differences.

Suzuki Ertiga Hybrid Variants: Exterior

To kick off this variant comparison, let’s talk about size. All four of the Ertiga’s trims are exactly the same dimensions-wise. They have an overall length of 4,395mm, a width of 1,735mm, a height of 1,690mm, and a wheelbase length of 2,740mm. All four also have a ground clearance of 190mm.

Where styling is concerned though, there are some clear differences. The entry-level GA MT, for instance, is the simplest-looking variant with its black-only front grille. It also comes with a simpler-looking tailgate, and it does not have mudflaps.

The GL MT, GL AT, and GLX AT meanwhile, all sport a chrome-trimmed front grille, and a chrome tailgate garnish. They then get a set of mudflaps. Only the GLX gets chrome door handles, while the rest gets body-colored door handles.

Concerning lighting fixtures, all four trims are quite similar. All come with a pair of halogen headlamps, and all get LED taillights. Only the GLX is equipped with an automatic function for its main headlamps. Furthermore, it is the only trim with power-folding side mirrors.

Note likewise that the entry-level GA gets a more basic manually adjustable, black-colored side mirror. The others, in turn, come with body-colored power-adjustable side mirrors. The GA also lacks front fog lamps available on the other three trims.

Lastly, all four Ertiga Hybrid variants ride on a set of 15-inch wheels. The entry-level GA however, uses a set of steel wheels, while the GL MT and AT get alloy wheels. Only the top-spec GLX comes standard with “polished” alloy wheels.

Step inside all four Ertiga Hybrid variants and one will find seating for up to seven occupants. All versions get fabric seats, a 60:40 split-folding second row, and a 50:50 split-folding third row.

Note that one’s preferred driving position is easier to find on the top-spec GLX as it is the sole trim that comes with a driver’s seat height adjustment.

Comfort is arguably better on midspec and top-spec variants as the GA does not get a folding center armrest for its second row.

For the driver, the GLX AT gets a leather-covered steering wheel, while the rest come with a urethane steering wheel. Tilt adjustment are standard on all trims.

All trims also get a 50:50 split-folding third row

The dashboard aboard the GLX AT also gets a leg up in visual flair, thanks to the addition of wood pattern decorations.

All four variants then come standard with an analog gauge cluster paired with a digital trip meter. For all trims, the information display can provide information on fuel consumption and driving range. Only the GLX’s display can keep tabs on exterior temperature though.

Suzuki Ertiga Hybrid Variants: Tech & Safety

For entertainment, the Ertiga Hybrid GA gets a 1DIN audio system, whereas the GL MT and GL AT come with an eight-inch touchscreen headunit. The GLX in turn, gets a larger 10-inch touchscreen headunit.

Variants fitted with touchscreens (GL and GLX trims) all get Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, and Bluetooth connectivity. The 1DIN unit on the GA does come with a USB port, and only the GLX gets an auxiliary audio jack.

For speakers, the GA gets two, while the GL and GLX trims all get four.

Standard safety equipment on all four Ertiga Hybrid variants includes anti-lock braking, ISOFIX child seat anchors, an engine immobilizer, dual-front airbags, and electronic stability control. Only the GL and GLX trims get a car alarm, and only the automatic versions (GL AT and GLX) come with hill-hold control and an AT shift lock.

Parking is made easier on the GLX, as it is the only variant that comes fitted with a reverse camera. All trims except the GA, do come with rear parking sensors.

Suzuki Ertiga Hybrid Variants: Engine & Performance

Under the hood of all four Ertiga Hybrid variants is a 1.5-liter inline-4 gasoline engine capable of making up to 103 horsepower and 138 Nm of torque. For all trims, the said engine is then paired with an integrated starter generator (ISG) that’s powered by a 12-volt lithium-ion battery.

For transmissions, the GA exclusively comes with a five-speed manual gearbox, while the top-spec GLX may only come with a 4-speed automatic transmission. The GL trim, meanwhile, has both a manual gearbox and an automatic gearbox version.

All trims also come standard with an engine auto-stop-start (EASS) system for better fuel-efficiency.

Choosing the right Ertiga Hybrid variant is a pretty straightforward affair. The GA is the simplest and most affordable and is probably the best choice for those who just want a no non-sense family-friendly ride.

The GLX in turn, is the one to get if you want more visual flair and on-board features. The only downside to it is it’s the most expensive trim.

If you want an Ertiga Hybrid with a bit of pizzazz, go for the GLX.

The GL meanwhile, sits as the middle ground for the Ertiga Hybrid variant lineup. It has more onboard equipment than the GA but is not as flashy-looking as the GLX. The best part about it too, is that it may come with a manual or automatic gearbox.

That said, this variant comparison serves as a basic guide only. For those really serious about getting the Ertiga Hybrid, it would be better to give these a real test drive.
