The all-new Suzuki Vitara 2018 has officially been launched in the Philippines. Born to replace the third-gen Suzuki Grand Vitara 2017, the new Vitara – Suzuki’s representative in the B-segment crossover will immediately enter the fierce fray with players like the Nissan Juke, Mazda CX-3 and Ford EcoSport.

Dissimilar to the Suzuki Grand Vitara, the Suzuki Vitara 2018 has a unibody construction with overall dimensions measuring 4,175 mm in length, 1,775 mm in width, 1,610 mm in height and a long wheelbase of 2,500 mm.

If the predecessor is offered with only one variant, this Vitara 2018 comes with two trim levels: the GLX and GL+. According to latest car news, kicking off the range sometime in the near future will be a GL trim.

Speaking of design, it’s a lot like a box but with a glossier finish. A swooping design dominates the front end, which well combines the front bumper and fenders. Coming into the 2-bar chrome grille from the Grand Vitara 2017 yet the 2018 version owns a thinner and smaller one which is decked with upswept headlamps, new circular fog lamps together with a clamshell bonnet.

The side features 5-spoke alloys and rugged black plastic body cladding. As for each model, the Vitara GL+ receives 16-inch wheels and halogen headlights whereas the higher-end trim GLX is coddled with 17-inch alloy wheels, full LED headlights and especially, a panoramic sunroof. On top of that, exclusive muscular arches are also worth noticing.

Interior-wise, the Suzuki Vitara 2018 interior is definitely sportier and more modern than that of the predecessor with a new dual gauge cluster with larger multi-info display and a new 10-inch infotainment touchscreen for the range-topping GLX (the GL+ only has a 7-inch touchscreen). Besides, 12V power sockets, AM/FM radio, USB, Aux, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi connectivity, automatic climate control are fully set up. What’s more, do you notice the conventional 3-spoke steering wheel in the Grand Vitara? It’s currently furnished with upgraded multimedia controls.

The Suzuki Vitara 2018 packs a 1.6L 4-cylinder gasoline engine delivering 115 Ps at 6,000 rpm and 156 Nm at 4,400 rpm. Converting all that power to large numbers on the speedometer is a 6-speed automatic transmission working in tandem with the front-wheel drive system. As we’ve noted above, once the base GL comes, it will come aired to a manual transmission.
