The Real-Time ID Check will keep Uber drivers and passengers in the city safe.
Uber is actively cultivating its support services and exploring technologies to maximum security for both drivers and passengers. The company would like to make sure that its customers will never be lulled into a false sense of security.

Following its initial delivery in the US last year, Uber Philippines announced that it has rolled out a Red-Time ID Check for its partner-drivers that makes use of selfies. The company said its unique security feature will able to cut down on fraud and help ensure riders that the right person is behind the wheel.

Through the Real-Time ID Check:
-              Uber drivers will have to take a selfie before they welcome guests.
-              The taken photo is compared to the one corresponding to the account on file
-              If the selfies do not match, the account is blocked for a short time while the Uber inspectors will investigate the matter.

“We at Uber are constantly looking for ways to strengthen our technology-enabled security features. We look into new solutions and test them to proactively use and maximize the capability of available technologies, and how these can be instrumental in our commitment to providing safe, reliable, and convenient rides,” said Uber Philippines GM Laurence Cua.

The security feature is already deployed across the US in September 2016, and the company claims that it is now starting to deliver the feature in the internationals market. The Real-Time ID Check is expected to go a long way in keeping Uber drivers and passengers safe and secure.
